Boards & controllers we repair

Real boards from our own workshop

A selection of the exact stairlift boards and scooter controllers that come through our workshop — every one repaired to component level and fully tested before it goes back out.

These are just some of the boards and controllers we repair. Other items are listed below.

Our speciality

M.R. Electronics no longer fit replacement relays to stairlift boards

Every board we repair is now fitted with an SSR upgrade in place of the original mechanical relay.

Mechanical relays are prone to arcing and sticking contacts, which is what causes F1 relay faults on Acorn stairlift boards over time. Our SSR (solid-state relay) has no moving parts to wear out — it's the same fix the manufacturer now builds into all new Acorn boards, and we fit it as standard on every board that passes through our workshop.

  • No moving parts — the mechanical failure point is designed out for good.
  • Fitted as standard on every stairlift board we repair, not just Acorn.
  • Now used by the manufacturer on all new Acorn boards.
  • Covered by our 6-month warranty, like every repair we carry out.

Our work

Real repairs from our workshop

A look at what actually comes across our bench — boards, controllers and the odd commercial test unit, all photographed in our own workshop in Bargoed.

Built in-house

Custom test gear we've designed and built ourselves

Off-the-shelf equipment doesn't always do what a mobility repair workshop needs. So we build our own — purpose-made rigs that let us test and diagnose faults far more quickly and accurately than we otherwise could.

Custom-built lithium battery discharge tester plotting a voltage curve

Lithium discharge tester

Discharges a pack under a controlled load and plots the voltage curve live on screen — so you can see a pack's real condition instead of guessing from a resting voltage.

Custom-built RF remote scanner displaying captured codes

RF remote scanner

Scans for and displays the codes being transmitted by RF handsets and remotes — an instant answer to whether a remote is actually sending anything.

Custom-built stairlift charger tester

Stairlift charger tester

Puts a stairlift charger under test and shows exactly what it's delivering, so a suspect charger can be ruled in or out in seconds.

M.R. Electronics charge test and battery meter

Charge test & battery meter

Our own inline meter showing charge voltage and current at a glance — the unit we reach for first on almost every battery or charger job.

Interested in a unit for your own workshop?

These were built to solve our own problems, but if one would be useful in your workshop we'd be glad to hear from you. Drop us an email and tell us what you're trying to test.

Dave fixed my Dad's mobility scooter circuit board and got it back to me unbelievably quickly! So helpful: even sorted out a spare cover for it as mine was missing. All works perfectly. Top marks and highly recommended!
